PoE2: Dawn of the Hunt Latest Information

The livestream of PoE2: Dawn of the Hunt has finished, and the update will be launched on April 5th. Here’s the the latest information summarized by MMOSO! We hope this will help those who missed it!

 

New Class, New Ascendancies and New Skills

There will be 3 new Ascendancies for existing classes:

Mercenary Ascendancy: Tactician

Warrior Ascendancy: Smith of Kitava

Witch Ascendancy: Lich

It is worth mentioning that Smith of Kitava holds a different passive skill tree from others.

Smith of Kitava can only equip normal gear because of the ability from his passive skill tree. He can enhance his armor with his skills.

New Class Huntress, and Her 2 Ascendancies

The new class is Huntress.

Huntress is a flexible class. She can enter or leave combat as she wishes at any time. Moreover, her skills combine melee and ranged damage. She can use a buckler to parry attacks and launch a powerful counter - attack. Additionally, her skills can deal elemental damage by consuming charges.

The 2 Ascendancies are:

Ritualist. She stands by the darker side of Azmeri traditions, and her skills are all about ritualistic sacrifice. She is able to equip an additional ring.

Amazon. She is a well-trained guard, with perfect fighting techniques to protect her homeland.

 

Please pay attention to the most important and attractive skill of the Huntress Summon Rhoa Mount. This skill allows her to fight enemies while riding a Rhoa (but only ranged skills can be used on the Rhoa).

Among the over 100 new skills in Dawn of the Hunt, there is another popular skill: Bind Spectre. Actually, it's just raising a spectre at the cost of spirit consumption. According to GGG, you need to spend a lot of time deciding how to set up the minion team.

100+ New Unique Items

There are 4 known new unique items according to the livestream, including a new unique charm. The new Unique items are designed to enhance both midgame and endgame viability.

Azmerian Wisps

The Azmeri spirit is a new mechanic introduced in Dawn of the Hunt. These wisps will hover around the maps and come to you, guiding you to a certain place. On your way, monsters that come into contact with the wisps will be strengthened in some aspects and gain new abilities. Once they are defeated, you'll get powerful rewards from them. There are 12 distinct types of wisps. Here are 4 kinds of them: 

Bear: Increase HP, Add Stun mechanic

Winter Owl: Increase Cold Damage, Gain Energy Shield, Summon Wind Vortices on death

Wild Cat: Increase Critical Strikes, Gain increased Evasion, Summon Feline Spirits

Cunning Fox: Convert enemies to the next rarity tier (e.g. Normal to Magic, Magic to Rare, and Rare to Boss)

And there will be a set of new socketable items drop from the azmerian wisps, which will bring new affixes to your gears.

 

New Rogue Exiles

As with the Azmerian wisps mentioned above, rogue exiles are new monsters you may encounter during your game. These smart rogue exiles can dodge your skills, use skills similar to yours, find their own ways, and equip gear like you do. In other words, they're just like real players, so it may take you a great deal of effort to defeat them. There are 12 different rogue exiles, and you'll get different rewards from them. Pay attention to the words under their health bars, which remind you the items they may drop once they are slain.

Epic Changes on Endgame

Some complex maps have been removed, and new mechanics have been introduced for smooth game experience.

 

There will be 7 new endgame maps, and 3 from which are :

  • The Fractured lake: the rare monsters are mirrored, you need to fight with 2 same rare monsters.
  • The Ezomyte Megaliths: you need to activate rune-carved stones. Once the stones are activated, you have to beat 10 continuous waves of boss fights and the fights will be more difficult incrementally.
  • The silent cave: the rare monsters are imprisoned in essence crystals, you need to release them and defeat them. After they have been defeated, the essence they held will be upgraded to a Greater Essence and be added to the imprisoned Map Boss. Think twice whether you can beat the final boss with full essences, or you may lose everything.

 

And new items will be added in these new maps:

  • New rune system from Ezomyte Megaliths, with higher numeric than existing ones.
  • New base item: dusk ring or tenebrous amulet from Fractured lake, which can be crafted to have additional prefixes or suffixes.
  • The vaal orbs can be applied to essences, thus 4 new corrupted essences are created: essence of hysteria, delirium, horror and insanity.
  • New strongboxes: there will be 4 new Unique strongbox encounters.

 

And there will be a new endgame mechanic: cleanse the corruption

  • The corruption is spreading, and a Corrupted Nexus is generally formed at the center of the corruption. You can choose between two options: cleansing the corrupted zones from the outer areas to the center, or going straight to the Corrupted Nexus. There will be different rewards for these two choices.
  • Once the source of the corruption is cleansed, 1 of 3 amalgamations of corruption will be spawned. The reward for it will allow you to add and enhance content in your maps.
  • After the cleansing of Corrupted Nexus, the corrupted maps will become cleansed maps with new monsters and a boss, and there will be a new set of modifiers and rewards from cleansed maps, such as fracturing orbs (lock a random modifier and you cant change it by any means).

The number of towers is reduced so there will be fewer or no overlapping areas, but the towers are more powerful and cover a larger area. Tablets now have twice the mechanics, and these mechanics will be doubled in higher - tier maps. Additionally, each tower will be able to consume up to 3 tablets at once. Towers can now spawn with all mechanics and have their own new bosses!

Moreover, you will get 6 respawn chances in each endgame map, but the number of respawn chances will decrease as the modifiers of the waystones increase. However, this rule doesn't apply during boss combats. The main content will no longer grant experience, nor will it remove experience upon death. There will also be a new set of tablets and new atlas tree nodes with new mechanics.

The last new crafting system revealed in the livestream was Recombination. It allows you to combine two items and generate a new item with random elements from the old ones. To recombine items, artifacts found during expeditions are needed as fuel.
