The highly anticipated Path of Exile 3.25 update is just around the corner, Grinding Gear Games has unveiled the expansion for Path of Exile, titled Settlers of Kalguur. We can learn from the live broadcasts that the 3.25 update introduces the new Settlers Challenge League, which offers players a fresh start and a chance to build the town of Kingsmarch, facilitating trade between Wraeclast and Kalguur.
The Settlers Challenge League
In this league, you'll assist Kalguuran pioneers like Dannig, Rog, Tujen, and Gwennen as they gather resources to construct the town and establish trade routes. This focuses on mining rare resources, hiring skilled workers to build and protect towns. You'll hire workers for various jobs such as mining, smelting, and farming.
One of your main tasks will be to build a harbor and establish a shipping route between Kalguuran and Karui ports. You'll send resources to these ports, where your traders will negotiate for the best deals.
Once the town is built and trade is established, you can buy and sell PoE currency and other stackable items on the currency trading market, as well as create and reassemble powerful weapons and items on the Runesmitting Table.
A key feature of this league is the introduction of Isla, who will help you build Kalguuran-modified Map Devices at the endgame. You'll also have to face three new endgame bosses who will threaten your operations, potentially capturing your workers or even your entire ships. You'll need to decide whether to fight them off or pay them off.
The Settlers Challenge League includes 40 new challenges (and 8 in Ruthless Settlers), with exclusive microtransaction rewards for completing them.
Several New Skill Gems Added
Crushing Fist: A Strength skill gem that retaliates against a blocked hit with a powerful ground slam.
Vengeful Cry: A Strength skill gem that retaliates against a savage hit with a warcry, granting rage and preventing rage loss.
Overexertion: A Strength support gem that boosts melee attack skills by increasing damage for each Warcry exerting them.
Eviscerate: A Strength/Dexterity skill gem that retaliates with an arcing slash, releasing two waves of force.
Swordstorm: A Strength/Dexterity skill gem that retaliates with a hail of blades when dual-wielding melee weapons.
Expert Retaliation: A Strength/Dexterity support gem that improves Retaliation Skills' cooldown recovery and usage duration.
Glacial Shield Swipe: A Dexterity/Strength skill gem that retaliates with a shield sweep, unleashing a wave of ice.
Rupture: A Dexterity/Strength support gem that causes Critical Strikes inflicting Bleeding to also inflict Rupture.
Divine Retribution: An Intelligence/Strength skill gem that retaliates with a surge of divine power, creating multiple waves of lightning.
Additionally, a new Keystone Passive Skill, Arsenal of Vengeance, has been added, enabling damaging Retaliation Skills to become usable every sixth hit from enemies.
New Items and Changes
The update introduces 60 new armor base types, 15 new unique items, 5 new Divination Cards, and more foiled Unique Items and Valdo's Map options. The Maven's Chisel series and Prismatic Oil are also new, offering enhancements for maps and anointing special Passive Skills.
Melee Improvements
The update brings significant changes to melee gameplay. Melee Totem Skills have been removed to focus on rewarding direct melee combat. To balance this, almost every melee skill's damage has been increased. Consequently, several gems and unique items associated with melee totems have been reworked or removed, and totem passive skill clusters have been adjusted.
Enhanced Map Device
One of the standout features in this update is the addition of a 6th slot to the Map Device. This enhancement allows players to maximize their map-running efficiency. The 5th slot can now be unlocked by completing either Maven's Invitation: The Atlas or a non-Valdo's Tier 17 Map, while the 6th slot is unlocked upon completing the other encounter.
Azmeri Wildwood and Nameless Seer
In Maps Tier 16 and above, players now have the chance to encounter the Azmeri Wildwood from the Affliction League. Although this area won't include NPCs from the original Affliction League, it introduces a new NPC, the Nameless Seer, who can appear in Tier 16 and 17 Maps. The Nameless Seer offers a selection of unique items for players to choose from and provides a unique Scrying feature that allows divination cards to be swapped between maps on your Atlas.
Divination Cards and Map Changes
The update brings a significant shuffle to the divination cards available in each map. Most maps will now drop fewer divination cards, but players can hover over or select a map on their Atlas to see which cards drop there. Additionally, typing a card's name into the Highlight filter on the Atlas will display maps that drop that specific card.
New Fragment and Boss Fight
A new fragment, An Audience With The King, grants access to the King in the Mists boss fight. This formidable foe will drop several unique items familiar to players from previous leagues. This fragment has also been added to the Fragment Stash Tab, making it easier to manage.
Reflective Mist and Sentinels
Players will now encounter the Reflective Mist from the Kalandra League in Tier 16 and above maps. This mist offers the chance to obtain rings or amulets with enhanced or inverted modifier values. Additionally, Sentinels will now appear near the start of Tier 16 and 17 Maps, providing similar mechanics to those found in the Sentinel League.
Scarab Adjustments
Several scarabs have been renamed and their mechanics altered to provide more variety and challenge. For instance, the Blight Scarab of Oils is now the Blight Scarab of the Blightheart, offering new rewards for completing Blight encounters. Other scarabs, such as the Divination Scarab of the Cloister and the Divination Scarab of Plenty, have new effects and challenges.
Map Bosses and Tiers
The update also brings changes to map tiers and locations. Some maps have been added back to the Atlas, while others have been removed. Map bosses required for upgrading your Pantheon have been adjusted accordingly. Crafting recipes previously found in removed maps are now available in other maps currently on the Atlas.
Miscellaneous Changes
Monsters in Tier 17 Maps now have reduced life and damage, fitting better into the progression between Pinnacle and Uber Pinnacle content. Double-Anointed Amulets can now drop in Blight-Ravaged Maps, and monsters in Ultimatum Encounters will drop loot once again. Additionally, Valdo's Puzzle Boxes have an increased drop rate, though the probability of obtaining chase unique items like Mageblood has been reduced.

Path of Exile's 3.25.0 update, Settlers of Kalguur, offers a host of new content and features that will excite both new and veteran players.
