Path of Exile 2: How to Find and Use the Sacrificial Heart

In Path of Exile 2, many items will give your character a significant boost, the Sacrificial Heart is one of them. It’s not something you can get easily, you’ll need to progress through the Act 3 and overcome challenges.

 

If you successfully obtain the Sacrificial Heart, you’ll have a chance to strengthen your build. Here’s everything you need to know about this unique item, including how to find it, how to use it, and the rewards it brings.

 

 

What is the Sacrificial Heart?

The Sacrificial Heart is described as “a soul still clinging to fading shreds of life.” To unlock its power, you must sacrifice it at a special altar. When used in the right way, it grants your character two permanent stat bonuses.

 

These bonuses can be incredibly useful, helping to enhance your build and improve your survivability in the later acts. To get the Sacrificial Heart, you'll need to progress through Act 3 of the game, which takes place after you travel back in time using the portal in Ziggurat Camp.

 

Once you've reached this stage of the game, you'll be able to hunt for the Sacrificial Heart, but it's not a guaranteed drop. You'll need to defeat certain enemies in specific areas to get your hands on it.

 

Where to Find the Sacrificial Heart

The Sacrificial Heart drops from enemies in two key areas: Utzaal and Aggorat. If you are lucky enough, those high-level enemies may also drop the rare POE 2 Exalted Orb.

 

1. Utzaal

Utzaal is the first area you'll explore after entering Act 3. While it's not the toughest area, you'll still need to defeat many formidable enemies to get your hands on the Sacrificial Heart. Don't worry if you don't get it immediately—keep resetting areas to respawn enemies and increase your chances. The best enemies to farm for this item are the Vaal Goliaths and Vaal Overseers, which have the highest drop rates for the Sacrificial Heart.

 

2. Aggorat

Aggorat is a much more challenging area than Utzaal. To reach Aggorat, you'll need to defeat the Legion Blockade boss in Utzaal. Once you defeat this boss, you'll hear chanting and be able to access Aggorat by walking up the stairs behind a giant statue in the area. This area also contains powerful enemies that can drop the Sacrificial Heart, but it's recommended to approach with caution due to its difficulty.

 

If you're having trouble finding the Sacrificial Heart, try using checkpoints to reset the areas. The more checkpoints you have in Utzaal or Aggorat, the more opportunities you'll have to respawn enemies and look for the item. You might even find the Sacrificial Heart by accident while farming other materials.

 

How to Use the Sacrificial Heart

Once you've obtained the Sacrificial Heart, it's time to perform the ritual that will grant you the bonuses. Head back to Aggorat and look for the Trail of Sacrifice. This area is marked by several bleeding corpses, leading you to an altar where you can perform the blood ritual.

 

At the altar, you'll find a unique item called the Sacrificial Dagger. Pick up the dagger and place the Sacrificial Heart at the center of the altar. Once both items are in your inventory, you'll be given an option to “Stab Sacrificial Heart.” Clicking this option will trigger a cutscene where your character kneels and pierces the heart, completing the ritual and unlocking the bonuses.

 

What Do You Get from Sacrificing the Heart?

Once you've completed the ritual, you'll receive the following permanent bonuses:

 

+2 Passive Skill Points

+2 Weapon Skill Points

 

These additional skill points are a great way to refine your character build and make you stronger. Whether you use them to improve your offensive capabilities or enhance your defense, these points are valuable and permanent. They can't be taken away, so feel free to use them to experiment with different builds.

 

If you're playing on Cruel difficulty, you can collect another Sacrificial Heart and perform the ritual again. While this will not grant you additional permanent skill points, it does give you a second instance of the Heart to use, which can be beneficial if you want to maximize your progress.

 

The Sacrificial Heart is one of the easiest ways to gain permanent skill points without grinding for them. By defeating enemies in specific areas and completing the ritual, you can enhance your character's abilities. It's a small investment of time with a big payoff.
