Path of Exile 2 has been launched for several days, I believe some of you have already progressed to the Act 2. If you're nearing the end of Act 2, you're about to face the toughest Boss in the Act 2: Jamanra, the Abomination.
This mighty boss is located in the Dreadnought Vanguard areas and known for his brutal lightning and wind attacks. Jamanra can make even experienced players break a sweat, so this guide will introduce you how to defeat this formidable boss. With the right preparation and strategy, you can conquer this beast and move on to Act 3.
Preparing for the Fight
Before heading into battle with Jamanra, make sure you're well-prepared to make the battle easier. Before heading into battle with Jamanra, make sure you're well-prepared to make the fight easier. Aim to reach around level 33-36 before facing Jamanra to ensure you're ready for the intense battle.
Jamanra uses powerful lightning attacks, so equip your character with as much lightning resistance gear as possible. Try to obtain the lightning resistance charm from Act 1 or Topaz Rings that you can find in Act 1 and 2. These items can help absorb some of Jamanra's devastating lightning attacks. If you have Exalted Orbs, consider enhancing your gear to boost both lightning resistance and your overall damage output.
Additionally, Jamanra is weak to cold damage, so if you're playing a Sorceress or Monk with frost abilities, you're in luck! If not, fire or poison damage can also work well.
Phase 1: The Battle Begins
The battle with Jamanra has two phases. Jamanra's first phase is really difficult to deal with, with several attacks that require precise dodging and quick reflexes. The key here is to stay close to Jamanra. This reduces the risk of getting hit by their spear throws, which are one of the hardest attacks to dodge.
During the fight, to avoid Jamanra's spear throws, it's best to stay right next to them. Circling around Jamanra and staying in close range minimizes your chances of getting hit by spears. When Jamanra raises their arms, spears will fly at you from either side. These can be difficult to avoid, so watch for the spears appearing on their shoulders and dodge just as the spear is thrown. Time requirements here are very strict, if you dodge too early, and you'll be hit by the follow-up spear.
After every few attacks, Jamanra will place electric pylons that can explode or move around the arena. There are three types.
1. Explosion: When Jamanra lifts the pylons high in the air, they'll explode on impact. Stay far away from them.
2. Slow-Moving Pylons: These pylons move randomly across the arena. Dodge through them or move around them to avoid damage.
3. Tracking Pylons: These pylons track your position, so move in tight, sharp circles to avoid them.
Moreover, during this phase, Jamanra summons a sandstorm that lasts 5-7 seconds, where you can't move. It is recommended that you stay behind Asala, who will protect you with a shield. Use area-of-effect spells or attacks to deal with the waves of enemies that spawn during the storm.
At the end of the first stage, not only do you need to dodge Jamanra's melee attack, but you also need to watch out his spear throws. Time your dodges carefully—dodge as the spear is launched to avoid getting hit by follow-up attacks.
When Jamanra reaches 60% health, they'll move to the center of the arena and the second phase will begin.
Phase 2: How to Win
In Phase 2, Jamanra becomes faster and more aggressive, relying heavily on cyclones and sword attacks. While the first phase had more environmental hazards, this phase is more about dodging and dealing damage quickly.
During the the second phase, Jamanra will cast whirlwind around the arena, so just simply avoid stepping into them, and you'll be fine. Jamanra can cast 2-3 of these at once.
It is worth noting that during the second phase, Jamanra will also use two swords for continuous attacks. In the first Sword Slash, Jamanra will swing a sword in front of them. To dodge it, from his right side roll into the direction of the attack.
For the second Sword Slam, Jamanra will prepare a huge sword, slam it into the ground. This is a more damaging attack, you can avoid it by rolling sideways.
At 50% health, just like in Phase 1, Jamanra will place pylons in the ground. These pylons can’t move, but will block your movement around the arena. The best way to handle this is to circle around the arena, making sure you have a way to dodge attacks if needed.
When Jamanra's health drops to 35%, they'll fire pylons in a small circle around them. These will release bursts of lightning, so it's best to roll away just as they fire.
At 20% health, Jamanra will open a hole in the arena, shooting projectiles across the ground. Keep dodging and maintain good positioning to avoid getting trapped.
The key to defeating Jamanra is not panicking. With so many attacks happening at once, it can be overwhelming. Focus on dodging and dealing damage at the right moments.
With this guide, you'll eventually overcome Jamanra, the Abomination, and progress to Act 3 in Path of Exile 2. Good luck, Exile!
