Aug-16-2024

In Path of Exile's 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur league, Black Knight is a new and powerful Boss. As you guessed, the loot rewards to defeat this boss are abundant, but he is also very difficult to deal with. This guide will help you locate and defeat this formidable foe, ensuring you're prepared for the fight and can claim the valuable rewards.

Where to Find the Black Knight

The Black Knight can be found in a new area called Starfall Crater. If you run the map frequently, you may see a new area open at a random location. The entrance looks like a Twisted Burrows,  which is also in Settlers of Kalguur, so keep an eye out for it as you explore.

It should be noted that Black Knight is level 83, so it can be speculated that Starfall Crater will appear on a level 16 map. In Settlers of Kalguur league, several mechanics are introduced to encourage players to explore more. These include Nameless Seer, who provides free random unique items and the ability to scry maps, which can appear anywhere on the map, such as Starfall Crater.

To increase your chances of finding Black Knight, the best strategy is to explore a level 16 map that is easy to operate. This will increase your chances of encountering Starfall Crater. It is recommended that to avoid more complex maps like Maze, Dungeon, and Cage, as they are harder to explore quickly.

Fighting the Black Knight

The Black Knight is a formidable foe in the Path of Exile's 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur league, boasting unique abilities that make the fight both exhilarating and rewarding. To overcome him, you need to be aware of his attack patterns and stay on your toes.

One of his go-to moves is the Whirling Blades attack, which he often follows up with a swift dash. Your best bet to avoid these quick strikes is to keep moving. The first phase's most perilous move is his 180-degree piercing projectile attack. If your health exceeds 3,500 and you've stacked high resistance, you might withstand it. Otherwise, approach with cautionthis attack can be lethal.

As the battle progresses, when the Black Knight's health drops to 80% and then to 40%, he will become invincible and summons Verisium Pillars shooting fire lasers at you while narrowing the area of the fight. To avoid these lasers, you will need to hide behind the pillars. But be aware that the pillars will be penetrated by lasers after a few seconds, and you will need to quickly move to the next pillar. It usually takes three pillars to wait out the bosss invincibility.

Reaching 60% and then 20% health, the Black Knight once again becomes invincible, this time summoning a rock storm and causing Verisium Meteors to plummet from the sky. As long as you can avoid these falling rocks in time, you will be safe during this stage.

If you die during the fight, you'll respawn outside Starfall Crater, giving you a chance to reenter and continue the battle. However, there is a possibility that you may not be able to reenter, which could be random or dependent on the battle phase.

Rewards for Defeating the Black Knight

Defeating the Black Knight grants you a unique item, the Svalinn Girded Tower Shield, as well as random runes used for crafting. Additionally, you'll find valuable Verisium deposits around the arena, including one large deposit. Make sure to collect these, as they are highly valuable in the Kingsmarch area. If you dont want to use these runes immediately, you can exchange them into POE Currency in case of need.

Conclusion

The Black Knight is a rare and tough boss, but with the right strategy, you can defeat him and claim some of the best rewards in the Settlers of Kalguur league. Focus on running easy Tier 16 maps to find Starfall Crater, and be prepared for a challenging fight that tests your skills and your build's resilience.

I hope this can help you. Good luck, Exile!
