The Story of Season of Witchcraft

In Season of Witchcraft, players will join forces with the Witches of Hawezar, a mysterious coven tasked with protecting the Tree of Whispers. This tree, a key part of Diablo 4's endgame, holds the heads of fallen souls, whose essence feeds the tree. However, something sinister is afoot – heads have been stolen from the tree, and those heads are transforming into Headrotten bosses. These monstrosities, created by the stolen heads, have been wreaking havoc across Sanctuary.

 

As the Wanderer, players will need to hunt down these corrupted creatures, return the heads to the Tree of Whispers, and uncover who is behind the thefts. Along the way, players will unlock new witchcraft powers that enhance their abilities and help them in this dangerous new adventure.

 

New Witchcraft Powers: Three Schools of Magic

One of the most exciting features of Season 7 is the ability for any class to use powerful witchcraft powers. The Witches of Hawezar offer three distinct schools of magic, each granting unique abilities to help players in their quest.

 

1. Ouna's Eldritch Powers – Focused on fire damage and destruction, Ouna's powers include spells like Firebat Servants (fiery bats that swarm enemies), Doom Orb (an orb that circles the player and deals massive fire damage), and Abyssal Resonance (an area effect that weakens foes).

 

2. Gelena's Psyche Powers – Gelena's magic is more defensive in nature, with abilities that slow enemies and support the player. Aura of Lament slows enemies and regenerates resources, while Vengeful Spirit summons a powerful spirit that absorbs damage for the player.

 

3. Caidin's Growth & Decay Powers – Caidin's magic revolves around poison and decay. Spells like Poison Frog Servant (a frog that poisons enemies), Hex of Whispers (a damaging curse), and The Cycle (a powerful AoE spell) make this school ideal for dealing damage over time.

 

In addition to these powers, there is also a Piranhado spell, a watery tornado filled with piranhas, which deals AoE damage. This spell is from the Lost school of Witchcraft, a rare magic that players can discover during their adventures.

 

Headrotten Bosses and the Hunt for Heads

As players work to solve the mystery, they will encounter Headrotten bosses. These bosses, created by the stolen heads, are unique, mutated creatures with powerful abilities. Defeating these Headrotten will reward players with valuable loot, including Occult Gems that grant new abilities and enhancements. Players must be prepared for tough battles as they track down these monstrous foes across Sanctuary.

 

Seasonal Rewards and Battle Pass

As with previous seasons, Season of Witchcraft will have a Season Journey offering rewards as players progress. One of the biggest new rewards is a raven pet named Dorian, who can assist with gathering gold and materials.

 

Players who participate in the Free Battle Pass will unlock cosmetic rewards such as weapon transmogs, a Black Masquerade clothing transmog, and other unique items. For those who purchase the Premium Battle Pass, additional rewards include mounts like the Wightscale and Nightwinder, a Grand High Witch armor set, and many other cosmetics, emotes, and skins.

 

New Armory and Quality of Life Updates

Alongside the seasonal content, Season 7 will introduce a much-requested Armory update. The Armory allows players to save and swap between different character builds with ease, making it simpler to experiment with different playstyles without having to manually change everything. Other quality-of-life updates, such as changes to affixes and class quests, will also be available to all players, whether or not they are participating in the seasonal content.

 

Vessel of Hatred Expansion Owners

For those who own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, Season 7 brings additional content. Players with the expansion will gain access to three new Runes, which provide powerful new abilities. While the majority of the content is available to all players, those with the expansion will enjoy a more enhanced experience.
