The upcoming launch of Diablo 4's first season, called Season of the Malignant, is scheduled for July 20. To fully enjoy the new content, it is recommended to create a new character and progress through the game again. However, since certain elements from the base game will carry over, it is advisable to be prepared for a fresh playthrough. Here are seven tips to help you get ready for Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant.
Complete the campaign with your main character
By finishing the campaign, you can skip it when playing with new characters or alts during the Season of the Malignant. This will allow you to focus on the seasonal quest line, dungeons, and events.
Log in with your main character before the season starts
On July 18, there will be a patch, and it's recommended to log in with your main character at least once before the season begins. Certain progress made with your main character will be carried over to the new season.
Reveal the full map
Exploring and revealing different areas of the world map will carry over to your seasonal character. Make sure to discover all zones, sub-zones, and waypoints to have a head start in Season 1. Some waypoints are only available after conquering Strongholds, and you'll need to reactivate them when the new season starts.
Increase your renown
Before Season of the Malignant, focus on increasing your renown level. Some rewards obtained through the renown grind will carry over to your new character, including 10 additional skill points and extra potion charges. Strongholds, dungeons, and side quests are great ways to earn renown.
Discover all Altars of Lilith
Altars of Lilith provide permanent boosts that apply to all characters, including those created in new seasons. Familiarize yourself with Altars of Lilith in Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, and Hawezar to start the season with stat boosts.
Prioritize dungeons with side quests
In the upcoming season, you'll need to redo dungeons, so it's beneficial to prioritize dungeons that also have side quests. Clearing a dungeon and its related side quest will reward you with XP, renown, and aspect rewards, saving you time in the long run.
Decide on your class
Choosing your starting class is crucial for Season of the Malignant. Consider selecting a class you are comfortable with or one that complements a friend if you plan to play co-op. Each class offers unique mechanics and playstyles, so explore the class hub for Sorcerer, Necromancer, Barbarian, Rogue, and Druid to make an informed decision.
By following these tips, you'll be well-prepared for Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant, ready to tackle new quests, battle Malignant Monsters, and enjoy the additional content and rewards the season has to offer.
